This time around my Word of the Year isn’t really just about MY shop. This time around, it’s about what we can all be together.

“We are the spark that will light the fire.” 

Yes, I’m quoting The Last Jedi. Yes, I truncated the quote. The fact is that as small shop owners, as makers, as creatives, as people, we are stronger when we combine the resources we have together. We can do it alone, but we can do it best when we let ourselves reach out and ask for help and advice when we need it.

This year is about being the spark. It’s about helping and being helped, and it’s about remembering that even when things feel dark and hope is waning, there’s a reason to fight on.
