The first artist on this list who I have seen in concert that I remember seeing in concert is John Prine. He was pretty fantastic, though I’ll warn anyone who goes to see him that he is (or at least used to be) extremely prickly about playing his hits. Don’t call out requests. Trust me. But the music is great, and his back catalog is really weird and special.
